I have worked in the veterinary medical field for 28 years, 27 of them as a licensed veterinary technician. My career path has taken me through private practices, veterinary Teaching hospitals, specialty practices, emergency hospitals, and veterinary technician school instructor.
I attended West Virginia University with a desire to become a veterinarian, In my senior year of college I decide to become a technician instead. I applied to Fairmont State College and graduated two years later in 1984. This education made me feel like I was an extension of the veterinarians care as a technician monitors patients for doctors during treatment as their “eyes, ears, and hands” in case of complications that may occur. This allows veterinarians to focus their attention on many pets throughout the day and utilizing the skills of the technician.
When I’m away from the hospital my interests include gardening, forestry, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 3 birds, an iguana, a chinchilla, 2 Japanese pond fish, 7 chickens, and my husband Mike.
