Dr. Cathy Kreis

Dr. Cathy Kreis is a 1993 Cornell University graduate who supports our team as the Medical Director and Managing DVM. She has practiced medicine and surgery in East Africa, New York, and North Carolina. She enjoys travel, but has been grateful to settle down and call Boone home since 2009. Her family home includes 6 cats, 1 rabbit and 2 grand-dogs. Dr. Kreis loves to learn and recently added Behavior Medicine to our list of veterinary services offered at ANRVA. Supporting the Human-Animal Bond in all its forms is her passion. She also has special interests in feline medicine, client care, staff wellness, and dentistry. Teeth, cats, our awesome clients and staff always need a bit of extra love! When not at work, you can find Dr. Kreis on the trails, in the kitchen, or in her new green house! She enjoys gardening and entertaining family and friends as often as possible.

Dr. Randall McAdams

Dr. Randall McAdams is a 1993 graduate of Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been practicing with Appalachian-New River since 1997. His professional interests include soft-tissue surgery, ultrasonography, dentistry, and diseases of the ear. Randall and his wife, Suzanne, have three sons and make their home in Valle Crucis. His personal interests and activities include rock-climbing, golf, cooking, and chauffeuring his sons to their myriad activities. He is also a Cub Scout den leader in his sons' Cub Scout pack.

Dr. Susan Mervin

Dr. Susan Mervin graduated from Kansas State University in 1996. Following graduation, she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Auburn University. Her professional interests include internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. Dr. Mervin joined ANRVA in August 2014. She and her family have lived in Boone for several years – and love the area and all of the outdoor activities and natural beauty it affords.
