Dr. David Thompson:
Dr. David Thompson is a 1974 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been in practice in Boone since 1978. He and his wife,Carolyn, live in Boone. They have 2 children. Dr. Thompson's areas of interest are feline and canine medicine and surgery as well as lizards and snakes. His outside interest include hiking and old car restoration.
Dr. Randall McAdams:
Dr. Randall McAdams is a 1993 graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been practicing with Appalachian-New River since 1997. His professional interests include soft-tissue surgery, ultrasonography, dentistry, and diseases of the ear. Randall and his wife, Suzanne, have three sons and make their home in Valle Crucis. His personal interests and activities include rock-climbing, gourmet cooking, and chauffeuring his sons to their myriad activities. He is also a Cub Scout den leader in his sons' Cub Scout pack.
Dr. Susan Mast:Dr. Susan Mast is a 1978 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been practicing with Appalachian-New River since 1998. Her professional interests include Chinese herbal therapies and veterinary acupuncture. She is IVAS certified in veterinary acupuncture. She also enjoys working with small mammals such as hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, prairie dogs, rats, mice, sugar gliders, and hedgehogs. Susan, her partner, Sam, and their dogs and cats make their home in Valle Crucis. Susan has one daughter, Toni. Susan's personal interests include reading, yard work, hiking, and making bon fires.
Dr. Cathy Kreis, DVM
Appalachian New River Veterinary Associates is delighted to introduce Dr. Cathy Kreis as our newest managing veterinarian. Dr. Kreis graduated from Cornell University in 1993. She has lived and worked as a veterinarian in New York,East Africa and North Carolina. Her special, professional interests include canine and feline internal medicine, geriatric medicine and ultrasonography. Cathy, her husband Wynand, and their two sons live in Boone. Her personal interests include running, kick boxing, writing and gardening.
